Male Room Vintage Motor Racing

We have a new challenge at The Male Room, vintage. So many options with this one but I decided to go with motorsport. You may have noticed a gap on the top right of the card, there will be a greeting added when I need to use it, something in dark green I think.
The whole idea started with a small die cast game piece of a 1950's racing car.  I've had this in my stash for some time, waiting until I could make a silicone mould of it.
Having watched a few You-Tube videos I decided it was high time I tried making a mould. Now I didn't want to use a huge tube of sealant or anything that smelt so bad I'd be banished to the shed, what could I use.....Stix2 Silicone Glue. It has a faint smell but nothing nasty and comes in a handy tube, I got six moulds about 1.5 inches round from one tube.

I made the tiny car with hot glue and once set coloured it with a mix of Sharpie pens and peel off markers.
The small pictures on the tag are all free images from the internet distressed with ink and crackle stamps. The tag itself is Kraft card also distressed with inks, the cotton ribbon is also stained with ink.
The card blank is covered with a small sheet of checkered paper, the edges distressed with black. On to this layer I stuck a die cut laurel wreath and a die cut trophy. The tag is mounted on foam pads over the wreath and trophy.
It always makes me smile when I see drivers of this era, they wore white overalls when the sport was probably at its dirtiest, their faces filthy, the only clean area around their eyes where their goggles had been.
The Male Room challenge runs for two weeks so please join us with your masculine projects with a vintage theme.

Shabby Artwork

Today's card is for House Of Cards, this month we have a colour scheme to follow with a hint of roses in the photograph.
I have tried to make my card look like an old painting hanging on the wall of a grand old house. A shabby frame holding an aged painting that hangs on a wall covered in fancy wallpaper and instead of the artist name on a plaque there is a greeting.
I have stamped with a rose from Chocolate Baroque's set Steampunk Butterfly using Archival Ink Watering Can, which is a lovely grey ink, on to cream card. The card is distressed around the edges with Old Paper Distress Ink and stamped over with a crackle stamp in the same colour. The roses are coloured with pencil, they were the only true peach colour I could find in my stash. I have left the background roses uncoloured.
The frame is die cut with a Spellbinder from satin gold card and distressed with brown acrylic paint. The frame and image are mounted on foam pads above a patterned background from a Trimcraft paper stack.
I have coloured the cream card blank green, the cream looked a little stark. The artist plaque is die cut with Tim Holtz Tattered Banners and folded so the middle stands up a little, with a small peel off greeting attached.
This colour challenge last all month but the card style will change in two weeks, this fortnight is Shabby/Vintage or Cute & Fun.  CAS or Classic/Elegant later in the month follows later in the month. We would love you to join us, so pop over and see the DT inspiration at House Of Cards.

Happy New Look to House Of Cards

A new year and a new look for House Of Cards. The format has been changed a little, we're going fortnightly now so you get a little more time to finish your creations. We still have style catagories but Cute has teamed up with Shabby and CAS has teamed up with Classic. Please pop over to House Of Cards challenge blog and take a look at the changes, I think you'll find it's a little easier to follow so please come and join in.
My shabby card started with the chipboard image from Graphic45 that came free on a magazine, I've just gone around the edge with a Tarnished Brass Distress Paint to bling it up a tiny bit. I managed to find some backing paper that almost matched the chippy, the edges are distressed with Old Paper DI and mounted on a thin layer of pale pink paper.
The paper lace along the bottom has had a length of pink ribbon that came from an old diary stuck on to it before being stuck across the lower edge.
The pearl swirl is something that's been in my stash for ages and as there was a big open space I thought it would be ideal. The paper flower was white but has been sprayed with a Cosmic Shimmer Antique Rose mister and a pink pearl stuck in the middle when dry.
The sentiment is die cut from satin gold mirri card, then painted with the Tarnished Brass DP so it matches the chippy. I've used another piece of pink ribbon to make a bow for the chippy to finish it off. I used a Kraft card blank to keep it in the shabby / vintage style.
I hope you like it. Please come and join us at HOC, we'd love to see your creations and with four styles to choose from, plus a lovely sketch to follow and some great DT inspiration I'm sure you'll find something to get you started.
