Fold It

I am very pleased to announce that I have been asked to join the DT at Recycle...Re-purpose, Re-invent. It's a new challenge blog that uses everyday items to make art. We are sponsored by CS Designs who have some great digi stamps in their collection.
Please don't get cross that I have altered a perfectly good book, it was bought from a charity shop as pre-loved, saved from the possibility of shredding and pulping to become a permanent fixture on my friends desk (hopefully!).

Each page has been folded over, nothing cut out, to form a name. If you really wanted to you could undo all the folds and still read the book.
The inside cover was already that lovely deep red which helps set off the creamy pages perfectly.
The images are from the Arty Expression set by CS Designs, there are five images in the set but I have only used three of them. They are printed on to cream card as white was to stark in comparison to the pages of the book.  Each large image is matted on to deep red card to match the inside cover.
The spine had writting on it so that has been covered with a wide strip of deep red card and then had three small cream images stuck on to it.
To prevent the book from opening up too far and falling over I have used some deep red ribbon from a chocolate box to hold it at the right angle.
The small Kusudama flower on top is made from a book page and an old button has been stuck in the middle.

If you like to make altered art and recycle items then come and have a look at our challenge over on Recycle...Re-Purpose, Re-Invent.

I would like to enter Sarah's book in the following challenges:
Rhedd's Creative Spirit - Altered Art / Mixed Media Only
Eclectic Ellapu - Burgundy/Red and Cream/Ivory
Not Just Cards - Anything Goes
