Male Room On Wheels

Our challenge at The Male Room this time is anything masculine with the theme of wheels. So I thought why not make the card look like a wheel.
I used a circle die to cut my square card blank, making sure not to cut off the fold. I also cut the very bottom flat so it would stand up properly.
Next was to cut a disc of black card the same size for the tyre. I wanted to use some satin silver card for the inside so it was like a real wheel but it needed something more to it than just silver. I have a mask with a lovely pattern to it, it's a bit like an old wire wheel you'd find on a classic sports car, so I used it to emboss the silver card. Stencils emboss well, the pattern is a little more subtle than an embossing folder would give but sometimes that's what's needed.
I had an old decoupage sheet in my stash with a Ford Capri on it, it's a bit cartoonish but the yellow paintwork adds that little splash of colour to brighten up the card.
The tyre is mounted on foam pads over the silver wheel to make it look a little more realistic and there is only one layer of decoupage on the car to keep it within the tyres depth.
Pop over to The Male Room and take a look at all the different inspiration we have for you, then come and join us with your creation.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:

  3. Wow!! This is fantastic. I really like that you've shaped the card too. The subtle embossing on the silver makes it look like a racer wheel. Love the old car too. Fab! Deborah, xxx
